Three Shule Bora students brought home gold medals from the National Science Olympiad held in Dodoma last month.

We are bursting with pride to announce that three Shule Bora Primary School students have returned from Dodoma as national champions, having claimed first place at the Tanzania National Primary School Science Olympiad. The team — comprising Standard 6 students Baraka Ndunguru, Neema Mwamba, and Issa Shaibu Kombo — competed against 120 teams from primary schools across all 26 regions of Tanzania, ultimately triumphing in the combined Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) category.

The three-day competition, hosted at the Tanzania Institute of Education in Dodoma, featured challenges in biology, physics, chemistry, and engineering design. The Shule Bora team distinguished themselves particularly in the engineering design challenge, where they constructed a functioning water filtration system using locally available materials. Their project also earned a special commendation from the judging panel, which included scientists from the University of Dar es Salaam and the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology.

"I am overwhelmed with joy and pride," said their coach, Mwalimu Emmanuel Nyerere. "These students worked extremely hard and showed incredible creativity and teamwork. This achievement belongs to them, their families, and the entire Shule Bora community." The winning team will represent Tanzania at the East African Primary School Science Olympiad later this year. A special assembly to honour the champions will be held on Friday — all parents are warmly invited to attend.
